General information only

These pages explain how garage doors fail and what fixing or replacing them involves in Port St. Lucie, St. Lucie County and Martin County, Florida. They do not diagnose your door. A door that will not lift might need a spring, a cable, an opener gear or nothing more than a sensor wiped clean, and only a technician standing in your garage can tell which.

Price ranges are not quotes

Every dollar figure here is a 2026 planning range. Door size and weight, one spring or two, the opener model, whether parts still exist for an older door, rust, access, the design pressure a new door must meet and the permit all move the real number. The price you pay is the one written for you before the work starts.

Wind ratings are decided on the permit

This site cannot tell you the design pressure your opening requires or whether your present door meets it. That depends on your location, exposure, roof height and door size, and it is settled by the door's label, its Florida Product Approval and the permit. A rated door lowers the chance of failure in a storm; it does not remove it, and no door is hurricane-proof.

Grants and credits have their own rules

My Safe Florida Home is funded year by year and has eligibility rules we do not control. Insurance credits for a rated door are set by your carrier. Check the program and your agent before relying on either figure quoted here.

Photographs illustrate

The pictures on this site show the kinds of doors, faults and work described in the text. They are not before-and-after records of a particular customer's job in Port St. Lucie or anywhere else.

No promised lifespan

How long a door, a spring or an opener lasts depends on daily cycles, heat, salt air, lightning, maintenance and whether anything hits it. Good parts fitted well give the best odds; they do not change the weather. The warranty that applies to your job is the one in the agreement with the contractor who did it, plus the manufacturer's terms.

Independent contractors

The work booked through this site is performed by independent technicians and contractors, not by the operator of the site. Our referral marketing disclosure explains the arrangement and how they are paid.

Outside links and mistakes

Links to agencies and manufacturers are offered for convenience and we do not control what is on those sites. We keep this one current, but figures and rules change; if something looks wrong, write to hello@portstluciegaragedoor.com and we will fix it.

One more thing, because it matters more than the rest: a garage door is the heaviest moving object in most houses, and its springs and cables are under extreme tension even when the door is still. If a spring has snapped, a cable has let go or the door hangs crooked, do not lift it, do not force it, and do not pull the red release while the door is open. Keep people, pets and cars away from it. If anyone is hurt or trapped, call 911 before you call anyone else, and then call (772) 303-4314.
